Spring Parent Discussion Forum

 

A summary of points raised from the meeting held on Friday 13th March:

 

Since the meeting in November:

 

  • The school is moving forward with its plans to decorate and redesign the drum room. Our thanks are given to Theo Gerber (Class 2 parent) who has provided designs and offered to assist with sourcing and building the materials required.Once completed, we plan to continue to roll out other similar redesign plans to smarten up the appearance of the school.

     

  • The Outdoor Play area will be cleaned as Spring approaches.

     

  • The Marketing Committee has launched new photography with the latest school advert which includes girls as there was some concern that the school is becoming too boy heavy. The ratio between girls and boys is even across the school and there is at this point an even split also from those that have expressed an interest in visiting the school.

     

  • The lunch menu is reviewed regularly.  Suggestions are always welcome.

     

  • Ski hats will be re-ordered when current stock has been exhausted.  The newly logoed uniform is compulsory from September 2015. 

 

  • As a result in dissatisfaction with our current uniform supplier, the school is to investigate other suppliers that can offer store and online purchasing facilities.

 

New items from the agenda included:

 

1.  Would it be possible to have Infant and Junior Church Services on the same day or joint services?

 

Separating the Infant and Junior Service gives younger children the opportunity to be more actively involved in the Service.  The school conducts end of term services at St Leonard’s which has an historic connection to the school.  Unfortunately, the whole school cannot fit in the Church at the same time.  The services could be split a week apart however they are end of term services.  Holding one service after the next is logistically difficult to organise.

 

2.  Has the school considered finger guards for the doors?

 

Finger guards can be installed on most access doors.  This point will be put forward to the Governors.

 

3.  Can Infants have a mathletics account?

 

Mathletics is an invaluable online maths teaching aid.  Prior to the meeting, accounts have been set up for Class 2 upwards.

 

4. Can we equip the sports team with water bottles for home and away matches?

 

Children are welcome to bring a small bottle of water to matches.  Water bottles can be unhygienic and children are encouraged not to drink too much while they are engaged in sporting activity.

 

Further comments included:

 

  • Can buddy reading be implemented lower down the school?

  • Can the older children work with the younger children on artistic projects?

  • Can the school consider implementing a smarter school hat to replace the baseball cap?

  • Error picked up on the school website homepage (now rectified).  School calendar dates do not always match the

 

Comments from this meeting are passed on to the Marketing Committee and fed through to the Governors.   This is added to the Pupils Forum.

 

The Pupils Forum has agreed the following:

 

  • To take over and run the termly tuck shop

  • Class 6 and 7 monitors would like to introduce a ‘buddy system’ for new and younger pupils at the school.They want to set up games in the infant playground and teach the younger ones the rules of play.
