Warlingham Park School’s pupils inspired by 2012 Olympic gymnast

On Tuesday 14th October, Olympic hopeful Danny Lawrence visited Warlingham Park School to help put the pupils through their paces in a sponsored fitness event. Danny encouraged each child to complete a circuit made up of sets of Star Jumps, Spotty Dogs, Leg Drives and Press Ups.

During a well deserved rest the children gathered to watch Danny give an awesome display of his gymnastic talents. Basic but brilliantly executed moves such as forward rolls and cartwheels progressed through to back flips and twisted somersaults before Danny finally, and much to everyone’s amusement, leapt through the air over the outstretched bodies of 3 children and a teacher.

WPS Head Teacher, Mike Donald, commented, “The Sports for Schools challenge is a fantastic event, the children loved joining in all the activities and were fascinated by Danny’s display, plus its great that the money raised goes to support the nation’s young hopefuls working towards the London 2012 Olympics”.
