Cricket Without Boundaries – Kenya Project
During the Easter holiday, Mr Donald took part in a charity project coaching cricket and promoting HIV/Aids awareness in Kenya. The enthusiasm and enjoyment showed by all the children from some of the most deprived areas of the country was outstanding. Wherever the team went, children of all ages flocked to join in (some of them having walked many miles to attend the sessions) and were delighted with prizes and gifts that included WPS hats and calendars! It is humbling to think how much such simple items mean to these children.
A big thank you to all parents and friends who offered their support and donated to Cricket Without Boundaries. Thanks also to Class 7 for donating their Tuck Shop profits to the project.

BBC Choir of The Year Competition:
On Sunday 18th April, 18 members of the WPS Junior choir, Mrs King, Mrs Chellingworth, Mr Donald, Mr Saxby (and guitar) and 6 parents went to The Anvil Theatre, Basingstoke to compete in the first round of BBC Choir of the Year 2010.
WPS Choir sang, accompanied brilliantly by Mr Saxby on the guitar, Simple Melody and Believe. The judges were impressed with WPS and gave very positive feedback, but The New Forest Children's Choir won the Choir of the Day, putting them into the next round.
The BBC Choir of the Year is a huge national competition and the Anvil Theatre has a 2,000 seat auditorium, so CONGRATULATIONS WPS Choir – you make everyone so proud and were undoubtedly OUR Choir of the day in every way!

Noddy the Parrot entertained Class 3 on their visit to Bird World this week as they learned about birds. He happily showed them his feet and his wings when asked. He amazed the children with his ‘Roar!’ as a lion and even his duck impersonations ‘Quack! Quack!’

the talentz ...is a brand new unique full theatre experience incorporating performing with the opportunity to learn all about production, stage craft and every aspect of putting on a musical. It is a week’s summer school running from the 9th-13th August at WPS for 5-16 year olds, ending on the Friday evening with a picnic party before the final performance. It will be run by Mrs King and a team of energetic, experienced teachers. WPS pupils, families and friends are being given the first opportunity to book places until the 30th April, after which the course will be marketed to other schools and locally.
